AVIAN ACROBATS

-

Janine Krayer “African skimmers use the sand banks of the Chobe River as regular breeding spots during the dry season between June and October.

“Photographers come from far and wide to try and capture that ‘perfect skimmer in flight’ photo.

“They’re fast flyers and they can change direction quickly in the air. To give yourself the best chance of success, you need to use a very fast shutter speed to freeze the bird in motion, and a suitably narrow aperture to ensure that most of the skimmer is in focus.”

HOW? Canon 7D Mark II, Canon 100 – 400 mm lens, shutter speed 1/3200 second, aperture f8, ISO 800.
