Chico will not leave cheap – Systems
Premier League side, Security Systems has warned possible suitors that their head coach, Daniel ‘Chico’ Nare, will cost an arm and a leg to lure him from their camp.
Nare is once again being linked with a move to league champions, Township Rollers.
The Blues have reportedly parted ways with Scottish tactician, Frank Nuttall who joined the club in January.
Nuttall arrived on a six-month contract at Popa, but was unpopular amongst a section of Popa faithfuls after an unconvincing start to life at the 16-time league champions.
He has won five of his nine games in charge, and has reportedly been shown the door before the end of his six-month contract, which was due to expire on June 30, 2020. With the Blues said to be looking to localise the country’s most lucrative coaching job, Nare is considered for the post. Nare was heavily linked with Rollers and their cross-town rivals, Gaborone United (GU) at the start of the year.
Systems acted swiftly and extended the coach’s stay with a further two years until May 2022. Chico’s exploits in this campaign have reportedly caught the attention of Rollers. Nare guided Systems to a 13-game unbeaten run, a club record.
The Alarm Boys are very much in contention for the league title, as they lie fourth on the log, just two points behind leaders, Jwaneng Galaxy.
Information reaching Mmegi Sport is that Systems have included a hefty compensation fee clause in Nare’s contract as they look to curb interest on their prized asset at the moment.
Systems’ public relations officer, Zolani Kraai was coy with details when approached for comment.
“Contractual matters between both parties remain a matter not for public consumption, as such we cannot reveal the contents until, and only when both parties have agreed to publicly disclose such,” he said.
“Before we dot the papers, we engage ourselves with all legal options that are availed for our consideration within the contractual obligations, and so we are abreast with the circumstances that may arise in each contract we sign either with the player and or the coach.
Daniel Nare is Security Systems coach and he will remain so until his contractual obligations are met. As of now he remains our coach.”
