Botswana Volleyball Association (BVF) activities for the coming year will be delayed due to the state of and developments in the COVID-19 trajectory across the World.

BVF president, Daniel Molaodi told Mmegi Sport that both the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) and The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) are reviewing the 2021 activities.

He said particular emphasis will be placed on the state of and developments in the COVID pandemic trajectory across the world including countries that were to host activities including competitions.

“The CAVB is in particular still on transition with the handover and how headquarters move to Morocco. Particular attention is for now on qualifying competitions and consideration of how to align those with the dictates of COVID-19,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bouchra Hajij was elected as the fifth president of CAVB in October.

She became the first woman president of the continental body.

Bouchra, a former Moroccan international (1984 – 2002), has until 2024 to transform beach volleyball and indoor volleyball in Africa before the next elective congress.

Molaodi who is also a FIVB board of administration member said the developments at the FIVB and CAVB would affect BVF preparations for any of the affected competitions.

He also said BVF was to prepare for the zonal qualifiers for both indoor and beach volleyball.

“In terms of our own programmes it would be entirely depend on how we are ready to move with the COVID protocols,” he added.
