Staff shake-up looms at BFA

- CHAKALISA DUBE Staff Writer

Astaff shake-up looms at the Botswana Football Association (BFA) following the recent appointment of Goabaone Taylor as the chief executive officer, Mmegi Sport has learnt.

However, Taylor said she was unaware of looming changes at the mother body. Reports are the new head of the secretariat is preparing for a staff clean-up, in order to achieve the organisation’s goals.

Targeted, sources said, are employees who are seen as unfit for purpose.

It is said Taylor has made it clear that she will only work with employees who have qualifications commensurate with their positions.

She reportedly said this during a meeting with employees immediately after she took over. Taylor has vast experience in the corporate sector.

Sources said a report was being prepared on how the organisation will move forward following the recent appointment of Taylor, who succeeded Mfolo Mfolo.

Taylor believes hiring the right people for the job would lead the association in the right path.

Some of the employees could be redeployed, the sources said.

“I am not aware of any report at Lekidi, which highlights what you allege. Please remember that I am on my second week into work. Besides engaging my team on the first days, I am now on my week-long training programme with GS Academy that is being delivered by UEFA Assist in partnership with CAF. I will have to gather more information once I am back in the office on Monday,” Taylor said in response to Mmegi enquiries.

Taylor also said she did not discuss issues of qualifications during her interaction with employees at Lekidi Centre.

Taylor joined the association early this month on a three-year contract and will be under scrutiny as the BFA looks to particularly expand its revenue base.
