No Galaxy deal yet for Bafana coach

- Club learns CAF opponent today KABELO BORANABI Correspondent

League champions, Jwaneng Galaxy say there has been no deal between the club and South African coach, Morena Ramoleboli. The tactician arrived at the Galaxy Stadium on Monday, alongside former Botswana Football Association (BFA) technical director Serame Letsoaka, also from South Africa.

Ramoleboli won the COSAFA Cup when he was in charge of Bafana Bafana in July. He is currently drilling the team and reports are talks with the club are in the final stage with a deal imminent. The South African has been part of the national teams’ technical set-up.

Reached for comment, Galaxy’s public relations officer, Tankiso Morake said the South African duo is assisting the team with the preseason phase but there has not been an appointment.

“It is common for Jwaneng Galaxy FC during this time to go on preseason (outside the country). Sometimes we travel to SA (South Africa) for preparations. Letsoaka and his delegate are just visiting to advise on the preparations for the preseason and CAF,” Morake said. The club put up an advert on Thursday morning as the hunt for a new head coach intensifies. Galaxy parted with veteran tactician, Sikalame ‘Six’ Keatlholetswe in March, less than a year on the job.

According to the advert, the ‘Galaxy Stars’ new coach should possess a CAF A Licence, have international football experience at adolescent and senior level for not less than three years. The aspirant should have also knowledge of African football.

The job is available from yesterday morning until August 24, 2021. Meanwhile, Galaxy will learn their CAF Champions League opponents this morning when the tournament draw is conducted in Cairo, Egypt. The team will be making its second appearance in the elite African club football competition.

Their quest will begin in the preliminary round in early September.

Locally, clubs have started to dust off their boots as they ready themselves for the league return. Gaborone giants, Township Rollers and Gaborone United faced off on Wednesday at the Royal Aria Stadium. The Reds walked away 2-0 winners thanks to a goal in each half from Thatayaone Kgamanyane and Joel Mogorosi.
