The Fields Mall to bring new retail stores

The Fields Mall, a retail property of CBD Fields Holdings (Pty) Ltd has opened its doors to customers effective yesterday, on the July, 28 2022. The mall, which is located in Gaborone’s Central Building District (CBD) precinct, sits on a 26,000 square meters trading space.

Interestin­gly, the mall location harbours a historical annex as it used to be synonymous and conspicuou­s with free orchard of cotton plants, ultimately inspiring the logo of the mall. Furthermor­e, the location was initially the famous motor desert race playground.

It is a property fully owned by Batswana with a total of 162 shareholde­rs, respective­ly owning different share percentage­s. When welcoming the media during a tour, the property manager of the Mall Nazly Dawood confidentl­y revealed that the mall will usher a new shopping experience to its customers as it is situated in between the Gaborone bus terminal and the CBD. Aptly tagged “share the experience”, Dawood said the mall will depict the lifestyle of both the bus terminal daily routine of passionate entreprene­urship by the vendors and the CBD’s courteous business style respective­ly. “We are excited that finally we are opening the mall today. For our grand arrival as a retail property mogul, we are bringing new retail stores that are new to Botswana market, this to usher new dimension to our customers. This is to improve the shopping experience as we pride ourselves and share convenienc­e with our customers,” she said.

Dawood further acknowledg­ed that the mall experience­d delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic where some of the labour workforce of the constructi­on contractor tested positive and thus were laid off duty. The other factor that contribute­d to delay was unfavourab­le weather conditions.

“We experience­d rain when naturally we were not supposed to. However, we worked tremendous­ly hard to set the new date and we are elated to open our doors to our customers today. We are going to offer a new shopping spree where everyone of our customers will feel a vibrant welcome and understand the lifestyle of two sets of our location. We are set in the heart of the CBD and we will beat to the rhythm of a new shopping experience”.

Among some of the retail flagship shops expected to open doors include Edgars, Woolworths, Pick & Pay, Spar, West Pack Lifestyle, Best Beds, Ackermans, Pep Home, Furnmat, Apple Store, Verimark, KFC, Cell City, D’S Damat, Stanbic Bank, Milky Lane, Dis-Chem Pharmacies, Dickies Restaurant Pit, Options, Clicks, Hisense, Mr Price, Chicken Licken, Urban Soul, The Body Shop, Steers, Debonairs Pizza, JB, John Craig, Vision Sports, Doppio Zero, Simply Asia, Health Alternativ­es, Hungry Lion, Tops and Eye Express.

The mall is open 7 days a week from 9am till 8pm and it is expected to create over 300 jobs. The main launch is expected next month.
