- GOITSEMODIMO KAELO Staff Writer

Fine artist Wilson Ngoni is an accomplished legend. Over the years, he has devoted his life to creating art that tells real people’s stories. That was again manifest during his mini birthday exhibition and studio tour held over the weekend at his place in Kopong. Once again, the exhibition was a picturesque moment as guests were treated to some of his latest paintings.

The exhibition was held to celebrate his 44th birthday, and his drawings clearly reflected his transformation and his level of experience. While he maintains his love for showing his ancient style in the paintings on display, he also introduces what he now calls the human experience, which is the major theme he paints on lately. Like a true professional, his use of texture is uniquely intact and makes the artworks appear real. His paintings depicted real life stories, and attendants found themselves immersed and their minds almost consumed by the art pieces. there were others that reflected nature as well. The mini show, which is also a build up to his upcoming Brush Night with Wilson Ngoni scheduled for September 17, attracted many people especially the youth.

Following the exhibition, Ngoni said he decided to mount a small show to appreciate those who had come to celebrate with him. “I wanted them to come so that we could enjoy viewing most of my latest paintings,” he said.

He explained that most of the paintings displayed during the show are his recent paintings, which reflects how his work has transformed over the years from different levels of experience to what it is now, both in technique and in theme, practical and spirit. He said the exhibition was a time to reflect on the future of the arts as well as get feedback from his followers and art enthusiasts. “The show was successful, I had great moments and also the feedback from those who attended is pleasant. Many followers came to support, and above all, family was also here to be with me. We talked about the future of art, and the ideas of doing more shows even when it is not on my birthday,” He added that the exhibition and birthday session were meant to bring people to his studio so that they are able to locate him easily whenever they need his services. “Furthermore, I managed to give a bit of detail and announcements regarding my upcoming major show this year on September 17,” he added.
