According to Mathew Simon, Simsa Gas Group Managing Director, the two-yearold new kid on the block, Simsa -œ>À] Ü>à ÃÌ>ÀÌi` ̜ w ̅i }>« that existed in the solar energy market.

Though there were other players in the market, some of who had been around for decades, their technology was stuck in time and this provided an opportunity not to miss.

“The country has sunshine throughout most of the year but it is not being utilised. Countries with much less sunshine promote solar energy more than we do. We should at least be promoting solar energy like the western countries,” Simon states.

The company sells high tech borehole motor pumps, solar panels, power inverters, lithium phosphate batteries, generators and other solar energy accessories from different corners of the world.

Though the initial investment may seems expensive, Simon ÃÌ>Ìià ̅>Ì Ì…i Li˜iwÌà œv vÀii energy outweigh the cost in the long run. Those who can afford the initial investment will save a lot of money and will not experience power cuts.

Simsa Solar already has a showroom in Gaborone Commerce Park and Maun but in the near future the company will expand to other parts of the country. Simon reveals that they are also looking for distributors.

“We are growing and the public is fully aware of our prodÕVÌà >˜` ̅i Li˜iwÌà œÛiÀ ̈“i°

Though there was a myth that solar products don’t last long, we have so far proven that to be wrong. Those who know our products come to us and are able to establish that we sell the latest quality products and we don’t compromise on quality,” Simon says.

Considering the high and rising cost of power, Simon is conw`i˜Ì ̅>Ì ˆ˜ wÛi ̜ £ä Þi>ÀÃ] ̅i majority of Batswana will be using solar energy.
