- LARONA MAKHAIZA Correspondent

The big day for Pency Ramatlhape is drawing closer as the 22-yearold begins her attempt to partake in the Miss Heritage Global 2022 beauty contest set to be held at Kalahari Waterfront in Thoyandou on September 24. Miss Heritage Global is a pageant that celebrates heritage and diverse cultures across the globe.

It also empowers women to make a difference in their communities campaigning on a global forum since its formation in 2013.

The Miss Independence Botswana 2021 second Princess left for South Africa Monday as she eyes to bring the crown home. Speaking to Arts & Culture, Ramatlhape revealed that the preparations for the Miss Heritage South Africa 2022 have been going well thus far.

“I arrived here in South Africa on Monday, and my journey to South Africa was smooth and on Tuesday, we started the 14-day camp preparations that are set to go on till the big day of the competition on the 24th. We then went to Freedom Park in Pretoria where we got to learn about the history of South Africa,” said Ramatlhape.

Ramatlhape also said it has been a nice experience for her to learn about the South African rich history as well as about the different cultures. She said she was also honoured to represent the blue, black, and white nation of Botswana.

“I want to leave a mark and make the world aware of the beauty in our African heritage and I have long set my eyes on the crown, and my mission is to use this platform to bring social, cultural, and mental change to the world. And also at the same time sell, promote, and embrace my own culture to the world,” Ramatlhape said.

I am currently working on a project titled, “Feeding from the basket of our roots. The project is set to equip people with the skills and knowledge that our forefathers took pride in and this project will help people make a living out of such skills that people would possess after they had partaken in the project.

Winning this competition would really make it easy for me to run this project and for that I really do hope that I do get to win the Miss Heritage South Africa 2022”, she said.
