The recently launched Baagisan Creative Think Tank is set to transform from being only a cooperative organisation to a social enterprise as the art gallery now plans to have its audiences as members. The Baagisan Creative Think Tank is an art gallery, which displays fine arts. This transition also involves moving from being just a fine art gallery to venturing more into photography, music and digital media.

“We are going to run a gallery that is not your classical standard gallery but as more of an innovative gallery. It can display any form of visual arts not only fine arts but also extending to photography and digital art,” said Tumelo Bogatsu, the creative and sustainability strategist for Baagisan Creative Think Tank.

In an interview with Arts & Culture,

Bogatsu stated that the gallery currently

sits at a community of 200 people on a Whatsapp group, and has approximately 50 artists that are working with the organisation. “And this is one of the reasons

why we turning this into a social enterprise as we want to include our people in everything that we do,” he said. As a way of turning the art gallery into a social enterprise, there will be an awareness day on October 29 at Molapo Piazza. The day will focus on eye care and breast cancer. According to the gallery curator, Thabo Kgatlwane they have invited specialists to lead discussions on the mentioned topics. Kgatlwane also said there will also be art competitions and exhibition by artists who would be part of the competition. He explained that the art competition will be divided into two categories, focusing on eye care and breast care awareness. Each category will have eight competitors. Winners of the competition will walk away with P1,000 for first prize as well as P750 and P500 for second and third positions respectively. Artists interested in the competition could visit the gallery for more details. Moreover, Bogatsu said the orgnanisation looks to host workshops to equip artists with knowledge needed for their career journey including financial literary.
