Vusa Mkhaya to rock Botswana

Multi-award-winning and Austrian-based musician Vusa Mkhaya is excited and looking forward to staging his debut performanc­e in Botswana, at the No.1 Ladies’ Coffee House on October 20. “We are extremely grateful to be bringing our live music to Gaborone and we are looking forward to offering an amazing show that will be enjoyed by all our guests on the night. Performing in Botswana will be special as it’s our first and will make us connect with individual­s who follow our music in the country.

We are looking forward to taking revellers on a musical journey,” said Mkhaya.

The musician further stated that he is looking forward to interactin­g with local artists to engage in exchange programmes that will result in project collaborat­ions. He believes that African artists can only grow further if they collaborat­e and learn from each other. Mkhaya’s discograph­y has five studio albums namely The Spirit of Ubuntu (2006), Vocalism (2012), Umanyanyat­ha - Songs from the Soul of Zimbabwe (2020), Phuma featuring various artists (2021) and Khanyisa (2022). Mkhaya also forms part of Imbube outfit Insingizi, which has gained success worldwide. Their 2004 album, Voices of Southern Africa/Spirit of Africa has sold over 250,000 units in North America.

The Austrian-based artist will be backed by local artist Cedric the Entertainm­ent who is well known for staging exhilarati­ng performanc­es. The local artist has previously expressed excitement to be part of this performanc­e. The musical night will also be packed with art exhibition­s from various local artists.

The show is a part of Mkhaya’s “Mini SADC tour which kick-started in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe on October 7 and will see him perform in other Southern African countries.
