19th edition of the Choppies Big Birthday Bonanza to award 5 Navara bakkies
Choppies Big Birthday Bonanza will this year give away 5million worth of prizes in celebration of their birthday. Five Nissan Navara bakkies and mouth-watering cash prizes are up for grabs as the group and suppliers intensify their collective initiative to give back to the community.
Just by purchasing selected partner brands which are found in most grocery lists, customers countrywide will stand a chance to win one of the five vehicles, cash prizes or shopping vouchers. The competition will see 93 lucky customers walk away with P2000 worth of Choppies shopping vouchers only a monthly basis and 3 lucky customers getting P500 each worth of vouchers on a weekly basis.
The competition started in 2003 when the group, which had been running franchises, consolidated into Choppies and wanted to give back to the community. Chief Executive Officer Ramachandran Ottapathu said the Birthday Bonanza has been very successful since it started, giving out a total of P100m to date. “We were successful because of the customers’ unwavering and relentless support and we pray and hope the support continues,” Ottapathu stated. He further expressed gratitude to suppliers and asked for a round of applause for the Choppies staff.
Before the launch event Choppies had gone around the country to see how previous winners were doing and two times winner Mr Mohiemang was invited to this year’s launch. Back in 2015 Mohiemang was broke, without food and at his wits’ end when Choppies Birthday Bonanza came to his rescue. “I won a P6000 voucher and in 2019 I won P25 000 which I used to buy a car immediately.
“That win changed my life. I would later sell the car to buy sheep and now the sheep business has bought me another car. When I see a Choppies logo I feel good all the time because I’m what I am because of Choppies,” said Mohiemang.
Gaborone City Mayor His Worship Austin Abraham lauded Choppies for the competition, buying local produce and for rewarding staff. He said; “Bonanza is a true corporate social responsibility effort. Choppies staff will also smile all the way to the bank as the competition will see 10 lucky staff members winning themselves P10, 000 each at the grand draw.
