In a rather jubilant mood at the ISBS graduation ceremony held at Travel Lodge in Gaborone, the Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS) commissioner general, Jeanette C. Makgolo lauded the institution for providing world class quality education for the over 19 years of existing. “The Imperial School of Business and Science has been in operation for 19 years of fantastic growth. Nearly two decades of contributing weightily to the society and the economy of Botswana. The school has produced over a thousand graduates who have proceeded to conquer the business and medical worlds, to reinvigorate the industry with bustling new ideas and enthusiasm and to shake the very core and landscape of the business realm,” Makgolo said.

The commissioner general lauded the graduates for showing great resilience during the learning period. She also said the graduates should carry the same resilience as they enter in to the work environment. “We are here today to celebrate many things. Victory, resilience and support. The graduates who sit before us here today are victors over every limitation that has tried to restrict them from reaching this point, every voice that has told them that they could not make it and every circumstance that made them believe they were incapable or unworthy of victory. They have been resilient and have pushed through to this moment right here, resisting peer pressures and threats of laziness,” she said.

The ISBS managing director, Nidheesh Sharma said the graduates should pride themselves for the dedication and sacrifices they have made during their academic journey. This year’s graduation was the first since the outbreak of Covid-19 in 2020 and Sharma described the graduates as a special group for reaching academic excellence despite the challenges that faced the world then. “You have earned this achievement and you should cherish every moment of this success. You now step into the real world where you will be given opportunities to make a difference,” he said. “You have fought many battles over the past couple of years. Lockdowns, social distancing, health problems, losing someone we know, uncertainties and overnight changes in our way of life.

Therefore believe me, you have truly earned your seat not only as a graduate but also as an equipped and respected citizen of this nation. You have overcome all the challenges and navigated this journey together,” Sharma said. At the ceremony top achieving students were awarded for the achievements. ISBS has been operating in Botswana for the 19 years and it has produced several industry leaders that are leading in different entities across the country and regionally. The institution has been a major driver in Botswana education sector and has contributed immensely to the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) National Credit Qualification Framework (NCQF).
