- LARONA MAKHAIZA Staff Writer

While music festivals are normally the in-thing and the most preferred source of entertainment for many during this time of the year, that is not the case for Thoko Ratsatsi also known as DJ Thoko as he is set to host a picnic.

The picnic event dubbed ‘Arabian All White Picnic’ is scheduled for December 4 at Masa Gardens in Rasesa. In an interview with Arts & Culture, DJ Thoko said he was pushed by passion to host this event. He conceded that his idea to host a picnic is a diversion from the norm as many people prefer to host music festivals during this time of the year and is optimistic things would work out for him.

“I am really excited to be doing this picnic event as to most people it is something new

and I hope people will really be looking forward to attend the event and get the new experience of having fun in the country as picnic is a recreational activity that you just go there to relax and have a piece of mind.

This elegant social event is all about celebrating life and rewarding yourself,” he said. DJ Thoko explained that the name Arabian All White Picnic resonates with the event’s intended theme as they want patrons to come dressed in Arabian fashion wear.

“Arabian All White Picnic revellers will be expected to dress the part and wear the attire of Arabians may it be the keffiyeh, which is the headscarf, or they could wear the thawb, which is the garment.

Furthermore DJ Thoko said the event provides endless entertainment, “cause what’s an event without some performances even if it is a picnic event”.

The picnic will have artists like Basetsana who is a really great vocalist of note and versatile as she has many hit songs to her name such as Dali Nguwe. People can also expect more acts on the day such as Jujuvine, Phoubouy, MC Theo and many more.

Tickets for the picnic event are sold in two phases with the first phase selling for P80 and the second phase for P100 while at the gate it will be P120. Cooler boxes will be allowed in for free. Tickets can be purchased at Engen Phaphane, Masa Gardens and Notwane Cocktail Bar.
