Picnic to promote local talent
In a bid to promote local talent, Michael Sekaba popularly known as Uncle Dipopae, will host an all black themed experience dubbed Coolerbox Lifestyle Picnic at Warmhands Hotel in Kanye on December 3, 2022.
Interviewed by Arts & Culture, Uncle Dipoae said the inspiration to host the event came about after he realised that DJs from Kanye do not get much recognition and bookings for mainstream festivals. As such, he explained that the event would give them a platform to showcase their talent whilst according small-scale businesses an opportunity to sell their products.
“Our set goals for the event was to have a mature, fashionable and beautiful company of good people on the day for us to declare the event a success. This event is strictly about locally-based artists with the main act being Chef Gustoz. Our MC for the day is Mcee Lentle who hails from Kanye. Alongside
them are main DJ’s from Kanye in the likes of DJ Shadik, Bistar, Crespo, Lež, Scotch, Stu, DeepSoul and upcoming artists who have been nominated to play a Vee Mampeezy’s show that would be on December 10, 2022 being Sbojo, Sparkz Lehipi,” he said.
This is the third edition of the Coolerbox Lifestyle Picnic, which has been held under different themes.
Uncle Dipopae said he wished to grow the event to be able to host it at various locations around the country to showcase local talent.
“It with sincere gratitude to humbly shout out to Bangwetse and Batswana at large for the immense support over the years, as I continue to grow in the industry.
I wish to assure them of clean and fun event, as is the norm of every event I host. We also take each and every query to heart and fix our mistakes so that they can enjoy themselves so that they also attain value for their money,” he said.
Uncle Dipoape is famed for hosting events such as Ga-Maila Back to School and Kiddies Festival, which he said marks its fifth anniversary on December 23, 2022.
Tickets for the picnic are sold online at Webtickets site and all fuelling stations in Kanye. The tickets sell at P100 double (limited), P60 single and P70 at the gate.
