Malesu won’t tap out

-

resigned from the BFA less than 6 months into the position of CEO as the office politics were said to be overwhelming for the outspoken administrator. Three years later Malesu vehemently challenged his former employer at BFA, Maclean Letshwiti for the Presidential seat.

A move which was expected to be well calculated by a man who has been in the BFA political landscape, however, turned to be rather embarrassing as he did not even get a single vote at the BFA Elections this past weekend. Another one of Malesu’s devastating defeats came in 2017 during Botswana National Olympic (BNOC)’s quadrennial general meeting.

Malesu was beaten by Botsang Tshenyego who garnered 15 votes while Malesu collected only six votes, Tebogo Lebotse -Sebego and France Mabiletsa were only elected by two people each, with Daniel Molaodi managing a solitary vote. It appears to have gone from bad to worse for the local administrator who however, claims he is not languishing in the agony of defeat but rather regrouping for his next calculated move. Quizzed about his next move Malesu said only fate will tell his destination. “Jesus never gave up preaching the gospel, even when nobody believed in him,” he said in an interview after the BFA Election. Although losing elections may dent your image and sink your confidence especially when no one has shown faith in you, Malesu believes its part of the game. “For the past 30 plus years I’ve been around sports. There’s no reason why losing elections should make me leave sports. Remember I’m a sportsman, former national team competitor. To me the just ended elections were just part of my Sports administration life,” he stressed.
