WANTED: Man who rapes other men

Furious men in Tonota are in hot pursuit of a man who rapes other men and police fear it could all end in carnage

- BY NEO KOLANTSHO

Emotions are running high in Tonota as the Police struggle to find a man suspected to be raping other men in the area.

The suspected rapist has seemingly managed to hide and cover his tracks well - the police have no solid leads on his whereabouts.

This has since angered men in the area who feel they are not safe and accuse the police of dragging their feet on the matter. If it was up to them, they would hunt the monster down and deal with him themselves.

Tonota Police boss Oteng Ngada fears that with the way men in the area are furious, even the innocent might be mistakenly harmed or injured. Hence he has cautioned against impulsive actions saying the police should be allowed to deal with the matter the best way possible.

“They are angry and we fear that they might make mistakes in their hot pursuit for the criminal,” he said.

Ngada noted that men are by nature physically strong and aggressive, thus they cannot rule out the possibility of the suspected rapist getting beaten or worse, killed. The man is alleged to have raped two men by dragging them into the bush and holding a knife to their throats. The latest victim allegedly suffered a long three-hour ordeal.

“We hear our suspect has a foreign accent but we cannot be certain for now, that might just be his ploy to throw us off,” Ngada said.

Tonota village chief Bokamoso Radipitse said the rape incidents were very unusual and have sent shockwaves and panic across the village.

“We are shocked to learn that a man took pleasure in raping another in our area. It’s a very disappointing and embarrassing issue to discuss. Rape is never a pleasant thing to experience, we have seen how it breaks women and we can only imagine how devastating it must be for a man,” he said.

Radipitse said things were changing for the worst, as leaders, they have been pleading with men to stop raping women and children and now the men have locked horns, raping each other. He advised men in his area to not only be offended when the issue affects them directly but also strive to stop sexually abusing women.
