Of Sasa Klaas and her mystery man

- BY NEO KOLANTSHO

It was as if Sarona Motlhagodi aka ‘Sasa Klaas,’ had a premonition that she would soon be gone and unable to defend herself from bullies as she had always done in life.

She died tragically in a helicopter crash this past Friday at Xumabee game Ranch near Sojwe, leaving her large base of fans in utter shock.

At the time of her untimely death, the rapper and songwriter had left behind one important message that speaks sharply to the current controversial debate about her love life. She talked to the issue of bullies who could lead their victims to depression and death - and warned that soon they would be the same people saying RIP, when the person had died.

She also dropped hints on social media that she had scored herself a “secret admirer” that she was not comfortable parading in the public.

This was after announcing sometime in September 2020 that she and Bakang Moitoi otherwise known as Baxon, were no longer lovers but remain close friends.

In a live video broadcast she made last month, Sasa Klaas showed off a lovely bouquet of flowers with P200 notes stashed in it, saying it was an early Valentine’s gift from a secret admirer.

Pressed for details by her fans at the time, she responded, “Ke bakile, I am never telling you guys anything again, ke tsile go le tima data gompieno (I have been burnt before, I will keep this one to myself.) You will only see me barefoot and pregnant and with a ring on my finger.”

She added at the time that she did not understand why people were so worried about what she does with her body.

“I do not remember distributing shares you know,” she had controversially added.

The bubbly Sasa would later crack up in laughter as her fans kept begging that she shed light on the mystery man while others agreed that it was only right that she keeps the details of her love life private until the time was right.

That is when she said, “Agg, I know I said it will remain a closely guarded secret but I was lying, you guys will know, you will eventually know everything; akere you own shares in the Sasa Klaas department.”

Sadly, she died before revealing to her ‘klassmates’ - as she mostly referred to her fans - who the mystery man was. It now remains unclear if it was all a bluff or the mystery man indeed existed.

Meanwhile, social media was awash with allegations that pointed to the rich local businessman who was with her when she met her untimely death as the mystery man.

The Midweek Sun’s attempt to reach out to the man for more light on the matter hit a snag as a woman who only identified herself as Sadi - but would later change to say her name is Mpho - said the man would not be able to speak to the media.

“He is not in and he cannot speak to you either,” the phone then disconnected. The mystery man may never be known.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, only two people were on board when the South African registered Robinson, R44 helicopter, ZS-SBM crashed on Friday 5th March 2021 at approximately 1900 hrs.

The incident has been handed over to the Directorate of Accident Investigations

in the ministry for further investigations, but The Midweek Sun’s probing has revealed that the same aircraft was once involved in a runway accident at Aeropark Airfield on August 1, 2015 in South Africa. A report by the Accident and Investigation Office at the Civil Aviation Authority in South Africa states that “during an autorotation exercise the student pilot lost control of the aircraft and when the Instructor took over, it was too late to recover the aircraft back to normal flight.” There were no fatalities at the time.

The ownership details of the aircraft and the identity of the trainee pilot at the time could not be established until press time.
