The untimely death of rapper and local hip-hop sensation Sarona Motlhagodi hit many so hard they feel for her mother, Annah Mokgethi. Below are some of the tributes from different social media users

My heart has been sore the whole day for Anna and her family, on the devastating loss of her beautiful and lovely daughter. A talented, feisty and assertive young lady who had the world at her feet. Deepest and heartfelt condolences to Anna, the Van Der Westhuizen and Motlhagodi families. No parent has to bury their child. So tragic and sad. [Mabel Koketso]

Parents should not bury children.

Bathong 27 is just too young. Yes she was BIG and by the account of those in the know Sarona Motlhagodi was clinching big deals which would have taken her music career to the international scene. Eish gomotsego

Cde Anna Mokgethi for the tragic loss of your baby girl. May the family, friends and fans of Sasa Klass be comforted. Be consoled in the knowledge that she ran her race, her way, and left a mark. RIP #mmaMongwato [Pamela Dube]

Mma Mokgethi may God see you through during this most difficult time of the loss of your beloved daughter. No parent should bury their child! Sending my deepest condolences to you, your family, Sasa’s friends and loved ones. May the Soul of Sasa rest in eternal peace [Tumie Matebele]

The sad reality is that social media broke news of your departure Mma Mongwato before mommy dearest knew... Be comforted Anna Mokgethi and family. This daughter of yours was a friend to many of us. She was Botswana’s Nikki Minaji. Don’t be worried much by the lies and speculations. You are a strong woman. Cheers to this lovely soul you brought to this world [Kabelo

You lived it girl. You were real . Only God knows our time . He governs with infinite wisdom and power everything that takes place.

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord” (Job 1:21). Hannah says the same thing in 1 Samuel 2:6, “The Lord kills and brings to life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up.” In other words, life and death are in the hand of God. Moses says the same thing when he quotes God in Deuteronomy 32:39, “See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god beside me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.”

It is well My Dear Sasa ... rest in peace monnaarona . It is well … Be comforted Mrs Anna Mokgethi and Family. It is well ... [Kearoma Rantao]

While Botswana mourns losing one of their talented impeccable hip hop stars, we have lost a baby sister, friend and daughter. A bold female activist who wasn’t afraid to speak up. Personally, I don’t fear death. It’s poverty I’m afraid of but today just reminded me, l however hate death because I’ve lost so much to death! Condolences to you Aron & Anna Mokgethi May you find solace in the Lord while she rests in peace [Thabang Dikae]

Just a couple of weeks ago, 2021 .... We laughed and talked about our December 2020. She handed me her phone and said, go through the pics! They had a great time. Family time. Kana this family knows how to have fun bathong. I’ve experienced it with them once. The very first time I met Hon Anna Mokgethi 10 years ago. Went through the pics, Obviously she had pictures of HER. I have not gone to see my dear Anna yet, I have not even called her, not even her hubby. I’m just here, wondering! What does one say or do at this difficult time! God, please see Anna, her family and friends through this trying time. Find comfort in the Lord my dear Anna. Love and Hugs.. [Selwana Kesebonye]

Death by accident has to be the most difficult thing ever, just knew Sasa only from a distance yet it hit so hard. I can’t even imagine what her family is going through. May they be comforted and find the strength to make it through this difficult time. [Edwin Tsietso]

Dark cloud has fallen upon Creative Industry. I am deeply saddened by the death of Sarona “Sasa Klaas” Motlhagodi. Death has robbed us of a young talented soul, Botswana finest musician, a leading female rapper and it is a dark day for us all. We will forever miss your voice, your music and advices. Our thoughts and prayers are with friends and family in this difficult time. Psalms 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” 2 Corinthians 5:1: “For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God , an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.”

Be comforted Hon. Anna Mokgethi . May Her Soul Rest In Peace [TK Jopi]

Never met Sasa . But if there is a young woman I often stopped and paused at her courage, it is HER! The Lord knows I’m in awe of unapologetic strong willed young women ...

Ao Morena! My deep felt condolences to Mme Anna! Be comforted my lady! I cannot even begin to fathom your grief! Losing a child. Modimo Wame [Tebogo LebotseSebego]

I have worked closely with Minister Annah Mokgethi in her previous life with the Botswana Congress Party. Our interaction was purely professional and collegial. My interactions with Mrs Mokgethi made me cross paths with her daughter Sarona, a young and beautiful girl at the time who grew up to become Sasa Klaas the rap star. I knew Sarona, a respectful young daughter of my colleague, I later learnt that the famous Sasa Klaas was this respectful young girl Ms Mokgethi would sometimes bring to party activities and is the same girl who would be around Mrs Mokgethi whenever I passed by her house. As a rapper, I have seen Sasa Klaas flashes of brilliance on videos. I have also seen her strong character especially when dealing with unruly fans. She was a jovial person with a quick smile.

Sasa Klaas was a very confident daughter and young woman who inspired many girls to dream and to remain fearless. Her acting, fashion and music talents could have developed further if we had a government which valued creative arts. Sasa Klaas was a typical dreamer who lived a full life at the age of 27. She was a good girl to her mother, and they remained very close through thick and thin. This is monumental loss to the family and friends, the creative arts and the country. To Mme Mma Mokgethi; you, your family and Sarona are in our thoughts and prayers. I’ve no words to express how sorry I am to hear about Sarona’s passing.

My sincere condolences for your loss. May the beautiful memories of Sarona comfort, sustain and strengthen you and your family as you navigate the difficult days ahead. May the God Almighty be with you. To borrow from American rapper, Tupac Shakur: why the good die young? May Sasa Klaas rest in peace [Dithapelo Keorapetse]
