‘Politically aligned’ Mogoditshane Council Secretary redeployed
Senior Assistant Council Secretary (SACS) of Mogoditshane/Thamaga Sub council Daniel Katjinotjiwa will soon be redeployed to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
Kweneng District Council Secretary Goleba Kgari briefly confirmed the transfer to this publication on Tuesday. “Yes it is true, once everything is finalised he will be leaving Mogoditshane/ Thamaga Sub council,” Kgari said.
The Midweek Sun has it on good authority that it has not been an easy road for Katjinotjiwa at Mogoditshane/Thamaga Sub Council since he was transferred from Central District Council in 2019.
At the time of his appointment, Katjinotjiwa was met with resistance by a divided group of area councillors. Some labelled him an outsider while others went on to hold him accountable for any wrong happening at the Mogoditshane
council chambers.
He was even accused of losing focus and not serving council interests anymore. A few councilors told this publication this week that they disliked him for aligning himself with ‘certain political parties’ and thereby failing in his core mandate to serve the community without being tainted.
“He was a government employee but he made friends with politicians and we lost trust in him. We say good riddance and hopefully government will bring us someone who will know that their job does not allow that they openly align themselves with politics,” one concerned councillor said.
On the other hand, Katjinotjiwa believes he served Mogoditshane/ Thamaga Sub council to the best of his ability.
“I know some might be celebrating but there are those who saw the work I did. I have no regrets, I was not pushed out or anything, I actually asked to be transferred,” Katjinotjiwa said.
