BEWARE THE SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCER LIES

To be a social media influencer in Botswana must be such a curse. And so we gather that some sort of such influencers created a lie on facebook about the Botswana relay athletes sponsoring themselves to go and compete at the IAAF World Relays last week, and continued to defend the lie when confronted about it by those who know the sponsors. And so we see a situation where a social media influencer creates a lie and believes, as well as defends that lie so much their followers would then be spreading it as gospel truth and even insulting those trying to correct the misconception. We at the Magatwe Crew are not here to defend or support any of the two contrasting narratives, but as you would already know, we are experts at knowing Magatwe le Tshele when we see them – as in the case of this crap that the Botswana relay team athletes paid for their participation. All we are interested in is how the athletes would be rewarded for their sterling performance despite having been ill-prepared for the competition. We need to celebrate achievements rather than give attention to tshele especially when that tshele is anchored on lies and bitterness. Congratulations to the team that won their race that qualified them to proceed to the Olympic Games.
