What and who is the problem at UDC and BNF?

The problem was not Mabiletsa, Magama, Mothei, Reatile, Kanjabanga and others in 2012. The problem was not Ndaba and his faction (AP) in 2017. The problem was not Pilane and his BMD in 2018. The problem is not Dibeela and his “TEAM RESTORATION.” The problem is not Dumelang and the BCP.

Who is the problem? The problem is a man who has held everybody at ransom, a man who is always fighting with his deputies, both at the BNF (Mabiletsa and now Dibeela) and at UDC (Ndaba, Pilane now Saleshando). He is in the hunt for new deputies both at BNF and UDC. His clarion call: “ntlhopheleng ba nka berekang le bone.” Why should it always be him who is right and all others wrong? A re ipotseng Maforanta. The problem is a man who has never voted at any congress. In 2010 he didn’t vote at our congress in Mochudi. He didn’t vote at our congress in Gantsi. At our congresses during voting he would be at his hotel room. That is the problem. The problem is a man who has promised but never fulfilled just one promise. Where is Kopano House that he promised BNF members? Where is the P2m he promised the BNF? He said he would resign if the UDC loses. Has he? Where is the promised Extension Gunners bus? The list is endless. The problem is a man who flouts processes to suit his personal interests. At the BNF offices, financial matters are not handled by the party Treasurer, but by non office bearers. We hear the same thing was happening at UDC where the UDC Treasurer never saw any penny of the campaign money. The problem is a man who takes unilateral decisions and shuns consultation. A man who has not spoken to his BNF deputy for over a year. A man who we also hear he doesn’t pick calls from his deputy at the UDC. A man who never calls BNF CC meetings. A man who we hear doesn’t call UDC NEC meetings. That is the problem. The problem is a man who surrounds himself with people who can’t give him wise counsel but would rather cheer him even when he falters. That is the problem. The problems besieging the BNF are the same problems playing out at the UDC because of him. The BNF is divided, and so is the UDC because he is at the top of the two. BNF structures are a mess. If we are not careful comrades, by the time we wake up there will be no party left. We currently have two MPs, the lowest number of MPs the BNF ever had since 1999. But the man still believe we can continue calling ourselves the natural leader of the UDC. This is laughable. The problem is a man who has alienated trade unions from the BNF, and the UDC. He has alienated elders and conveners from the UDC who could be rendering advice and brokering reconciliation efforts to the current impasse at UDC. A man who believes the BNF and UDC are his personal properties, to an extent that he believes he can appoint a heir to each throne. A man who shuns democracy. That is the problem.
