BOFINET leaves softball

-

The money which was set aside for that particular 2019/20 season was agreed that it will be shared equally among clubs while the remainder was then used by the BSA to comply with covid-19 protocols in anticipation of the 2020/21 season. However, the 2020/21 season was also dealt a heavy blow with the surge in Covid-19 cases in January leading to suspension of sporting activities.

“We played the second year of the contract when the whole world was hit by the pandemic. This pandemic affected our play to a point where the second season of the league was halted and ultimately nullified. An agreement was then made to give clubs grants to be COVID-19 compliant ahead of the third season. The last season was however never played due to the State of Emergency in sports and as results payments were not disbursed, “she said.

Despite BSA and BOFINET having parted ways, Goitsemang is of the belief that in future they will return to sponsoring sports once again. “As the sponsor we derive great value and mileage from softball followers so in essence no games, no value and no impact to the softball sporting code. We do acknowledge that Covid-19 has changed sports worldwide and the sporting communities have since adapted to the new normal of playing sports in compliance with Covid-19 protocols. BOFINET will definitely contribute and support sports in future, during the time of COVID-19 and beyond, “she said.
