Boseja joins Sundowns
Botswana Women National Team Goalkeeper, Sedilame ‘Tsontso’ Boseja has earned a big move to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies Team after several years with Bloemfontein Celtics where she won the Free State Region Women football League Championship.
Boseja has been doing exceptionally well for the Senior Women’s National Team. She joins the side that has dominated the SAFA National Women’s League for sometime now and has proven to be a force to be reckoned with over the years. Nonetheless, Boseja will compete for a place in the starting line up against top short stopper Andile Dlamini, who has been sitting between the sticks for Masandawana for a very long time. Boseja will provide a healthy competition for her team mate looking at her abilities behind the strikers.
Local Football pundit, City Keagakwa this week said the move is a step further for the player, especially that Sundowns’ women team has been growing at an impressive rate. “African women football is growing, there’s champions League; there’s AWCON and for her to be in a team in serious contention for honours can only improve her to get better.” Boseja missed out on a move to Slovakia last year but moving to Sundowns is yet another shot at glory and she’s got the quality to perform at that level. Moreover, Keagakwa said the SAFA Sasol women league is competitive and that is why the likes of Refilwe Jane, Thembi Kgatlana and a lot of other South African women are plying their trade in Europe, China and the United States of America. “She already has experience of SA football because she’s been at Celtic for the past years. And not only does the move offer an opportunity to her, but it also gives the local players hope, to realize that, it can be done. “Thuto Ramafifi is in America and the more we have players competing at a higher level, the more our national teams stand a chance to seriously challenge other top countries. The likes of Refilwe Tholakele, Didokanyane Segakolodi and Nondi Mahlasela show that we do have talent in the country .” Moreover, he added that there will be ample financial benefits since Patrice Motsepe, as the CAF president and former president of Sundowns, will be desperate for the team to do well. Boseja comes just about at the right time.”
