GILIKA EXPECTED TO RETAIN CHAIRMAN POSITION

- BY SUN REPORTER

Jwaneng Galaxy’s Njabulo Gilika is said to be pushing for another term as the Chairman of the team. Galaxy went to the polls this weekend, but the Chairman and the Treasurer were not voted in as the constitution has vested the appointing powers upon the team sponsor, Debswana Mining Company.

According to those within the circles of the Jwaneng outfit, Debswana still favours Gilika to continue with his role at the helm of the team, following the team’s recent record of success locally.

Gilika has been at the helm of the team since 2015 and has successfully helped the team win two Mascom Top 8 trophies in 2017 and 2019. Galaxy also won its first league title which came at the time of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

Although there are others who want the former chairman out, he has allegedly formed a formidable relationship with his bosses at Debswana and is likely to retain his position.

Reached for comment, Gilika could not comment on the matter

as he said he was pressed for time and neither picked his calls nor responded to questions sent to him by press time.

Meanwhile the Vice chairman (technical) position went to Lesenyo Mapharing, Secretary General Onkamile Robert, Marketing Manager Sarah Oremeng, Logistics Manager, Gaone Motswasele, Facilities Manager Letlhogonolo Mapoka, Sports Organiser Patrick Mokganya, Communications Manager,Tebogo Ramere, while Public Relations Manager seat was retained by Tankiso Morake.

Debswana is expected to announce the Chairman in the next coming days and the Galaxy supporters will be waiting with bated breath to hear the name of the man who will lead their team in the next coming years.

“We are expecting an announcement this week from the Sponsor,” team mouthpiece, Tankiso Morake said.

He also revealed that the new committee will not be looking for a new coach since they have Oris Radipotsane as their coach.
