- BY KABELO GADISE

Local Rapper Ato Kwamina Bondzie Ghartey-Tagoe, popularly known by his stage name Strech, is getting a lot of love for his sizzling hip-hop album titled Eyiedzi Buyantanshi. The album, which was released in April, is already a hit with local music fans. Speaking in an interview this week the rapper said that the name of the upcoming album Eyiedzi Buyantanshi are words in a Ghanaian and a Zambian language both meaning “prosperity”. He said he had mixed heritage and he also wanted to show pride in this. “My father is from Ghana, and my mother is Zambian. I was born in Mochudi, and raised in Gabz, where I’ve lived pretty much my whole life. This album is a celebration of the things that make a life, not just external prosperity and wellbeing, but internal as well, things like peace, humility, and being right with God,” he said. The album features a couple of incredible music artists like Jordan MoOzy, SaL Angel, Ms Abbey, Veezo View, El Zintle, and the late and great Sasa Klaas among many other hip hop big names. Strech said the album is getting rave reviews.

“The lead single _Folomih_ has a video that currently stands at 65,000 views on Facebook and 5,000 on YouTube.

The song featured Gabz flow king Veezo View and the late great Sasa Klaas.” Strech said he started the project when he was just coming off the success and good reception of his last single _Senti_, which was a smooth, laid-back Afro-RnB jam. “I thought it would be an interesting artistic challenge to see what would happen if I expanded on that sound.

As a result, I ended up creating a “Neo-Afro” album that is a modern take on an Afro influenced sound. I worked on it throughout 2020, thanks to the lockdowns, and finished it last October.”
