A day without robbery has become unusual

-

Everyday in Botswana nowadays a robbery involving a lot of money is reported. It has almost become abnormal for a day to pass without an incident being reported. While some blame unemployment for the spate of robberies, it has been found that that most of those arrested would have been employees of some company or even government at the time of their crime. In fact, various methods are being employed by these criminals. We gather that nowadays at a funeral service or wedding, they would rech out to an MC and ask that owner of a particular vehicle with specific registration numbers be told that their car is blocking those that want to go out. Once the owner goes and reaches the car, they hold him at gunpoint and ask for the car keys. By the time the car owner screams for help they are gone. This past weekend one family reported that a light blue Toyota Vitz was stolen while parked at home. In no time facebook was flooded with appeals to help find drivers of a light blue Toyota Vitz who grabbed handbags from ladies who would be walking by the roadside or waiting at some bus stop. About four such incidents were reported on Saturday alone – in four different locations. In other incidents reported recently, the criminals wait for those who leave their cars to go open their gates, and attack them just as they return to the vehicles to drive inside their compound. Always be on the look out. Some criminals are actually said to be starting security companies and electric fence installation companies so as to deliberately compromise the security of their clients. Be wary of who you engage for the security of your home. What more with the established security companies harbouring criminals as employees!
