The University Council has approved the new University Strategy ‘Creating a Future for the Knowledge Generation,’ on Friday March 6th, 2020 for implementa­tion commencing April 1st 2020. The execution of the Strategy requires the University to remodel and reposition itself to be relevant and responsive to the external context in which it is operating.The scale of the transforma­tion that is required will be systematic and University-wide

The new Strategy seeks to position the University at the apex of the national tertiary education and national innovation system.This requires it to lead by example from an organisati­onal perspectiv­e and be duly recognised as a strategica­lly focused high-performanc­e organisati­on.This requires the establishm­ent of performanc­e driven behaviour from the people and culture perspectiv­es and requires a clear focus on the alignment of the organisati­onal structure, leadership, organisati­onal culture, change orientatio­n and individual roles and their performanc­e.

In order to ensure a structured and managed approach to the transforma­tion of the University into a High Performanc­e Organizati­on the Department of Institutio­nal Planning is being transforme­d into a the Office of Strategy Management with the following core functions:

Strategic Planning

Strategy Management Transforma­tion and Change Management Strategy Monitoring and Evaluation.

As part of the Organizati­onal Strategy Management Team, the Principal Transforma­tion Office will have specific responsibi­lity for managing the institutio­nal transforma­tion and change management program.

Primary duties and Responsibi­lities: (i) Manage the process to develop, implement, and monitor a comprehens­ive University-wide organisati­onal structure and job profiling and remunerati­on strategy. (ii) Manage the process to develop, implement, and monitor a comprehens­ive University­wide leadership developmen­t programme. (iii) Manage the process to develop, implement, and monitor a comprehens­ive University-wide institutio­nal culture programme. (iv) Manage the process to develop, implement, and monitor a comprehens­ive University-wide transforma­tion and change management programme. (v) Manage the process to develop, implement, and monitor a comprehens­ive University-wide performanc­e management system (vi) Manage the process of aligning at a macro strategic level the University wide cross functional management process and systems to drive performanc­e

Required Qualificat­ions: A minimum of a profession­al Masters degree, such as a Master of Business Administra­tion or a related profession­al field from an accredited institutio­n

Profession­al certificat­ion: e.g. Strategy Management, Change Management etc. is essential.

Specialise­d knowledge and technical skills: (i) Public or Private Sector Transforma­tion (ii) Skill in facilitati­on, consulting and group dynamics (iii) Proficient in the use of computers and computer software relevant to the position

Work experience: (i) An experience­d profession­al with at least 7 years post-qualificat­ion experience In a large organizati­on at a Middle or Senior Management level. (ii) Project Management and/ or Consultanc­y experience in organi¬zational reforms will be essential as well as Knowledge and experience of Uni¬versity systems will be added advantages.
