SERAMENG THE FUTURE OF ROLLERS MIDFIELD

- BY SUN REPORTER

Phenyo Serameng’s talent has always been a given, but combined with hard work the results are spectacular, as demonstrated in a recent display from the Township Rollers midfielder, and fans have been quick to appreciate his art inside the field of play.

Coach Romain Folz’s eye has been caught by the artistic Serameng who has responded well to the coach’s tactics in recent games.

Of recent, the player has emerged as a fan favorite; he has been at the heart of midfield, controlling and dictating terms for the opponents. His ball control and drive into attacking areas is second to none, given his ball recovery and energy on the press. He is a beast of a player that will need consistency to make a name for himself. With the signs promising that Paxolla as he is named by his admiring fans, is the right replacement to fill the big boots of the aging Maano Ditshupo, who might also be nearing retirement, it looks like Serameng could be penciled for the big role at Township Rollers. The 27 year old midfielder has recently displayed elegance in linking midfield and attack with key performances keeping Popa in contention for the league title, his presence in midfield can be key to the team’s success this season. The little-experienced Francistown born midfielder will seek coach Folz to manage his play extensively to ensure that he stays alive and energized in setting up the team play and being able to break up the opposition as required by the coach. In their chase for the league title, Serameng will be very pivotal as the race has now intensified. The player will be needed to organize things for Popa and win battles that will in turn favour his team; his team has so far collected 52 points after 22 games and they are chasing bitter rivals Gaborone United who are on 53 points after 21 fixtures. Nonetheless, the chase is not dependent on only one player and his team mates will also need to come to the party and compliment each other in their efforts to chase Gaborone United in the most exciting league battle in recent years. It remains to be seen if the player can maintain his expansive style and his key passing ability which has been the recent talk in local football corridors. The admired player is starting to come to live and there is a serious expectation that he will maintain such performances alongside Kutlwelo Mpolokang.
