Ms Abbey releases ‘Africa’

- BY IRENE SHONE

Ms Abbey is focused on releasing music this season and her new single ‘Africa’, yet to be released soon is a gateway towards her work this year.

She would be releasing songs from her solo project, but also looking for different collaborations to give her fans the best of her productions on different levels. The song ‘Africa’ elucidates the beauty of Africa to the whole world, and how the continent is rich with diverse cultures. “The song in short is about the beauty of Africa and who we are as a continent. I tried to put out elements including; respect (botho), colorful, cultural, artistic and how we generally express ourselves with our different nationalities,” she explains.

She found the experience of composing a song in Sesubia language very interesting, because she has never spoken it herself. “The song was inspired by Thabo Kgosiemang aka Sthibo who came up with the whole idea of ‘Africa’. At first I laughed in disbelief when he launched this idea and expected me to sing in a language I hardly know. He believed in me as a creative, and I gave it a shot only to flow excellently with the rhythm,” she said, adding that she then knew that she had to officially release it.

It was recorded at KGB Music by one of the best producers, Berry Bone. Ms

Abbey expresses her trust in the work, further stating that Berry BOne is one of Botswana’s best. Meanwhile, the diva is working on a video to this song and says people should expect it in a month or two.

“People are also expecting an album from me, and I have listened to them as I am working on delivering it. ‘Africa’ is the opening to the biggest project for Ms Abbey’s

fans,” she says. She adds that as she would be celebrating her 30th birthday this year, she really looks forward to impressing her fans as a way of appreciating their support. She wrote the song ‘Africa’ together with Thabo Kgosiemang and Patience Chuma Nyachienga. She believes that they will write more songs together in the future.
