LOCAL PRODUCER TO ELEVATE AMAPIANO GENRE

- BY IRENE SHONE

The multi-talented music producer, sound engineer and DJ, Paul Ketshabile is determined to take the Amapiano beat to the next level in Botswana.

His love for music is far-fetched, as all he aims at is producing best quality and ensure that he delivers something unique all the time. His music creativity is influenced by what he learnt from school of music plus his passion towards the industry. “I started music production in 2008, studied and graduated in 2016 from Cape Town’s Cape Audio College in South Africa,” he shares. In his line of production, he has produced a variety of genres including; Traditional, Hip Hop, House, RnB and kwaito.

Just last year, he started producing the popular genre Amapiano, which was recently released last month. His take is that people have developed an undying love for Amapiano and he is confident that his sound and style is being received well, which he believes will give him an advantage in the genre.

“I do not sing or rap on my songs but feature talented artists from different genres to put their blend into my sound (something like Dj Khaled), and I am glad that I have already received positive feedback as I live streamed my work on different streaming platforms recently,” he shares. Among these newly released songs is the people’s favourite, ‘Make You Proud,’ ft Judah Twitch, which is a tribute song to their late son.

He tells Vibe that all he dreams for within the industry, is to engage upcoming artists, and unearth unknown talent and hopefully help them push their music careers forward. “I want to see them put something on the table through their talent,” he says, emphasizing that his up coming projects this year will feature a variety of artist from all over the country including both known and unknown artistes. ”The goal is to uplift my fellow artists while also doing something for myself,” he says. He forever prides himself in doing production for Matsieng back in 2020 and says this alone has encouraged him. “It was such a great honour and the biggest challenge I have ever faced in the music industry. Having to produce an internationally known traditional group helped me grow in a lot of areas in my engineering path. I managed with the great Eric Ramco’s assistance and wisdom and my understanding on music and business was greatly enhanced,” he shares.
