Power Women Music Concert promises spectacular jazz event

- BY IRENE SHONE

The long anticipated ‘Power Women Music Concert’, a jazz chill session by the trio of Botswana’s finest ladies in Jazz, Nono Siile, Punah Gabasiane and Nnunu Ramogotsi will finally take place tomorrow (Thursday) at Mo’s Open Table.

For a while, this trio couldn’t deliver what they are well known for as a collective, due to Covid-19 repercussions.

However, Nono Siile tells Vibe that, time has come for them to have their fans eat from the palms of their own hands as they give those lit live performances after almost three years of nil.

She dubs this show as ‘one not to be missed’, with that ultimate guest experience.

“The purpose of this show is to bring women together, through jazz music. We have also realised that women in Jazz are mostly left behind by men in Jazz when they host shows, so saw the need to mark our presence too,” Nono said.

She further toldVibe that their plan is to make this initiative an annual event.

“It has really been a long time we haven’t been on stage together, so we are very excited about this and ready to give it our all,” she said, adding that they are hopeful Kearoma Rantao would be part of the show in the next edition as she couldn’t manage to be present at the show this time around.

Nono emphasised that the plan is to make the event a 100 percent women based platform where women empower one another.

Renowned promoter, Zenzele Hirschfeld is the host for this show and the DJ for the show is interestingly also a woman.

Nono said they would also be honouring Anafiki, who will also be in attendance.

Vice President at Botswana Music Union (BOMU) Women’s wing ,who also represent the disabled within the entertainment and arts industry, Philadelphia MotladiileKenneth will also grace the event with her presence.
