Dr Kenny Makweng to perform in Botswana
Renowned South African gospel artist Dr. Kenny Makweng is expected in the country this month where the energised singer will perform in the country for the first time.
Initially, Dr Kenny as he is known, among his fans, was expected to give an animated performance in May 2020 at Francistown and the event was postponed due to Covid 19.
However, the day is finally here, Dr Kenny will be performing on the 30th April 2022 at Botsogo Modise’s CD Launch at Aerodrome Primary School in Francistown.
The South African will be sharing the stage with Baholo ba Kgotso and Bafana ba Molamodi from SA alongside local artists like Innocent,Keabetswe,Lesedi Pasela,Zakhu and Maungo to mention a few.
In an interview,local promoter Onneile Ntima said Dr. Kenny has intentions to work with local artists and help them where he can. “He is encouraging and he has been in constant communication with local artists advising them to have faith while serving God and be patient enough to wait for his blessings. With a career spanning over 30 years, Dr Kenny started singing at school and church and he became a church choir leader and the rest unfolded.”
He started singing in a professional
setup in 1992, as a backing vocalist of Nkosana Stocks and Stocks.
In 1997, he formed his acapella group (Masogwana a Kgotso) and recorded their first album Eloi Eloi la Masabakatane. He said that he drew inspiration from the late Oleseng Shuping, and was inspired to record instrument. He later went solo and recorded Ba duma duma. Dr Kenny has his own recording studio KennyMak Production.
Dr. Kenny has recorded 31 albums of which 12 are solo albums, 12 with Masogwana a Kgotso and 7 with Bafana ba mmino.
