Pearl Cutten drops new single, Far away
Explores popular amapiano in catchy new sound
Denmark based Motswana singer Pearl Cutten has released a new single titled, Far Away. The single forms part of her new album project titled, Fragments of my Soul. The singer told Vibe that Far Away is a Soulful Afro house amapiano track that makes you want to dance. She said that she has previously done soul music and she wanted to experiment with a more contemporary sound to push musical boundaries and explore her talent further.
While she is based overseas, Cutten has remained true to her African roots and loves and celebrates everything that is African. She noted that Africans are known for their joyful and free-spirited nature, which is inherent in the culture of dance and song that is part and parcel of Africans’ lifestyles. “I wanted to capture the magnetic magic of African heritage and my love for dancing through this energetic and rhythmic song,” she said. She said that the lyrics are about surrendering to love, and she delivers the message in soulful and dreamy vocals.
Cutten has been working on her new album themed: ‘Fragments of my soul’ before signing an artist development deal with Bentley Records. She explained that the theme is based on her take on different sounds of soul music, and how it has influenced her music throughout all the other genres she also loves, which include soul, pop, dance,Afro, Blues and Jazz, which be presented on the forthcoming album.
Born in Botswana to a native mother and an Indian father, Cutten moved to Denmark when she was 14-years-old d to live with her Danish stepfather and mother. She said that she started making music as a teenager to combat loneliness but soon overtook her ambitions as a dancer and actor.As music started occupying most of her creative time, she developed different styles from RnB to Soul to Jazz, and Afro house. Over the years she has perfected her soul, Afro and jazz style, that led to her releasing two music projects.
Cutten has maintained strong links to her African roots, especially the people of Botswana, who she said she carries in her heart, despite being thousands of miles away. She is now settled in Denmark and regularly performs at concerts shows around Denmark and Europe and UK, at fashion shows, parties and weddings.
