Anglican Diocese celebrates 50 years
Holy Cross Hospice raises funds for charity and community outreach
The Anglican Diocese in Botswana celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
Anglican is one of the biggest Protestant Christian churches in Botswana, with branches in over 10 towns and villages across the country, and four branches in the Gaborone periphery alone, excluding the main Gaborone Anglican Cathedral.
The main celebrations will be in September and festivities kick off this month with choral competitions in Serowe and Francistown on the 20th August culminating with the choral festival in Gaborone on the 26th August 2022.
The Anglican Diocese Church prides itself in welcoming members of society from all corners regardless of creed, race, class, sexuality and level of sin.
Reverend Celestino Chisimba noted that Anglican Church is a place to appreciate and celebrate God’s love and listen to the gospel. He noted that God is for everyone; a kind and forgiving God, a God of peace and prosperity and a living God who wants to see us prosper and at peace.
“The Anglican Church is a place where they will not be judged and persecuted but taught the Word of God and to be spiritually discerning and strong in faith.
Anglican is a home of peace and prosperity that accords members the chance to learn about and worship God, and also pursue growth in their spirituality amidst a strong foundation,” Reverend Chisimba said.
The role of the Anglican Church is not only to be a spiritual sanctuary but to also give back to society - to uplift souls and give to those in need. Anglican has an outreach arm, and the Holy Cross Hospice, which makes community efforts to give to the underprivileged, help the elderly and destitute.
The Holy Cross Hospice will operate a food stall at the Botswana Consumer Fair to raise funds for the charity work and members of the public are encouraged to support the noble cause.
