FOOTBALL DAGGERS OUT AS BFA STOPS TOURNEY

-

Football lovers are reading jealousy and lack of foresight into the Botswana Football Association’s decision to stop all other football activities on August 27, the date set for the Zebras’ match against Madagascar in the CHAN tournament. In fact, friendly matches have been played in the past during the time the Zebras would be playing and there was never any issue. This time we see a strong-worded warning from the football governing body saying no other football activity should take place on that day. The first people to respond were patrons of Sunday soccer who in their minds the BFA statement is about them. Like really?? How big can the social soccer mongers think they are! Anyway, magatwe a re kgang e fa: there is a friendly pre-season tournament set for the same date in Lobatse that features Extension Gunners, Township Rollers, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Masitaoka. Gatwe some in the system are not happy to have been excluded from the friendly tournament that is surely set to attract big numbers, and now we gather they have pushed for the tournament to be cancelled. Those who claim to know say they are worried our football is run ka maikutlo. We wait to see if the social football guys will honour the BFA instruction since the organisers of the Lobatse tournament have moved theirs to the following weekend.
