No child seen in the streets of Tsabong
Looks like local communities still revere the word of a Kgosi afterall. Gatwe there was no single child in sight on the streets of Tsabong for the duration of the Botswana Democratic Party Congress held there over the weekend. It turns out that the village tribal leader, Kgosi David Toto II had warned the villagers to be vigilant and look after their children with the BDP Congress coming to his village. Gatwe Kgosi Toto warned the parents because he would not want to hear stories of missing children after the Congress. Why the Kgosi associated the disappearance of children with the BDP Congress hosted in his village remains a matter of guess work but many on social media have had their interpretations, which were mostly linked with the recent arrest of some politicians who were implicated in the disappearance and eventual death of a primary school child some months back. It would appear from what observers say that the parents in the village took heed of the words from their leader as claims suggest no child was seen in the streets of the village from Thursday to Sunday. Those who left the village on Monday say they were pleasantly surprised to suddenly see children on the playgrounds in open spaces when they had seen none the entire weekend. We just wonder what was going on in those homesteads – what were the children told by their parents? Will they grow up knowing that there is a relationship between the disappearance of children and the BDP? Kgosi Toto!
