MVA FUND, KBL PARTNER FOR ROAD SAFETY

galagadi Breweries Limited, the producers of St Louis have joined hands with Motor Vehicle Accident Fund to promote road safety and reduce driving under influence, which is the biggest cause of road accidents around the country.
Through a three-year partnership which was sealed with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), MVA Fund and KBL will run multipronged campaigns which are aimed at promoting road safety, help motorists of behavioural change towards driving and the influence of alcohol beverages.
KBL is the biggest producers of clear and opaque beers. “Road crashes continue to be a challenge not only to MVA Fund, but the whole country and the world at large. Road traffic crashes continue to claim lives of loved ones, our breadwinners and the citizenry workforce,” said Chief Executive Officer of the MVA Fund, Michael Tlhagwane. “As MVA Fund, we are pleased to partner with KBL in our endeavour to promote road safety and save precious lives.” Speaking at the event, KBL Managing Director, Carlos Bernitt, noted that,
“road safety is a deeply personal issue for us, not only as a major road user in Botswana, but for the 600+ people at KBL and their families, our customers, consumers, and those in the communities
we serve, who travel these roadways daily.” KBL, which is part of AB inBEV, a global beer producing behemoth, has over the years promoted Smart Drinking campaigns which are aimed at positively
influencing consumer behavior and social norms where drinking is involved. “However, we also recognize that collective action is required to create sustainable impact to address this and other road safety factors. As such, we will embark on a three-year partnership with the MVA Fund, in which we jointly commit to create effective change to making Botswana roads safer for all road users,” he added. The MoU which was signed this Monday, will provide a framework for constructive cooperation and communication between the two organizations. “In conjunction with the MVA, Government and other public/ private entities, we hope that our joint actions will bring forward important change in road safety and ultimately help create a future with more cheers,” said Bernitt.
