RUGBY COMES TO THE PARTY

Botswana Rugby Union (BRU) President Sean Irish has expressed his contentmen­t with the strides the associatio­n has made post state of emergency in the country.

Irish has revealed that the turn up and the level of competitiv­eness displayed by local clubs has surpassed their expectatio­ns following a two year hiatus of sport in the country. This past weekend, the BRU 2022 League season came to an end with the associatio­ns hosting finals for both men and women teams, including their reserve sides under one roof.

The games were played at PPC Sports and Recreation Centre, which is also home of GRF Hogs.

“The league started around February/ March and point system was used as we headed towards the knock-out stages. This past weekend we had all finals played in one area, the two women’s leagues, sevens (7) and tens, the reserves and the super league finals. It was a process that happened over the year to get there and it was a huge success,” Irish shared. There has been fears that some players might lose interest in In the sport

The turn-up at Wharic Park/ PPC Sports and Recreation Centre was impressive with the ground filled to capacity to create an incredible atmosphere, more especially during the men’s final which saw the hosts GRF Hogs play Canon Jaguars.
