“I’m extremely delighted and proud to have been chosen to lead this team, it is a huge responsibility; it is not everyone who is entrusted with a duty to lead the team, represent it well and look after the players and their interests, so I feel really proud,” Kgaswane shared.

Before leaving to join Baroka FC in 2017, the elegantly left-footed attacker had been with Gaborone United during his development stages.

He backed his credentials to lead the team by stating that, he understands the culture of the club and also knows the players, something which he said will help him to perform his role as expected.

“It is not hard to lead the team because I have been with them for a long time, most of the players in the squad I have been with before I left; so I feel proud to lead them. We have experienced players, good quality players so I don’t think it will be much of a challenge to lead them. There are lots of leaders in this group and I believe we will push the young ones and lead the team to more success,” he said.

Kgaswane added that their ambitions for the upcoming season is to defend their league title and Orange FA cup, highlighting that the club had not won a league title since 2009, hence it is imperative to ensure that it maintains the standards of the previous season.

For the champions’ league, he warned that they will not be pushovers as they look to at least make it into the group stages of the continent’s elite club football competition.

Should the Money-Machine overcome As Vita, they are likely to face Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko who stunned RC Kadiogo of Burkina Faso by a solitary goal to register an all-important win away from home, and are expected to advance to the next stage with the second leg played in their own backyard.

Thero Setsile scored GU’s only goal of the match on Sunday to give Benny Kgomela’s charges a 1 nil slim advantage ahead of the DRC trip.

Kgomela and his assistant coach, Pontsho Moloi have reiterated that the team is ready to traverse the harsh terrains of the competition as they visit Kinshasa on Friday.

Kgomela echoed Moloi’s sentiments to highlight that they have an experienced squad to overcome most challenges they are likely to encounter.
