KGASWANE INHERITS GU ARMBAND

...as the striker hits the ground running in new position New GU captain confident in his role

Gaborone United have confirmed the promotion of attacker Mpho Kgaswane to captain the high flying team for the upcoming season, following the retirement of midfielder, Alphonse Modisaotsi­le.

The former Baroka FC (South Africa) and Zira FC (Azerbajan), Kgaswane, led the Reds over the weekend in their Confederat­ions of African Football (CAF) Champions League first leg preliminar­y encounter against As Vita of Democratic Republic of Congo at the National Stadium.

Kgaswane will be assisted by defenders, Thato Kebue, Tshepo Maikano and Zebras’ current first choice goalkeeper, Goitseone Phoko.

Ahead of the clash, Kgaswane told Sun Sports that he is honored to have been chosen as the team captain and vowed to lead the group to more success in the upcoming season.
