DANIELLE SWAGGER DROPS MUSIC VIDEO FOR I’M DAZED

- BY IRENE SHONE Danielle Swagger

Danielle Swagger’s newly released music video, ‘I’m dazed’, speaks out against rape, molestation and defilement. The music video premiered on YouTube recently. The song comes from Danielle Swagger’s first solo album, ‘Are You Ready?’ (2021) produced by Stan Records Production.

The singer told Vibe that the song narrates a story of the girl child who has experienced uninvited trauma but her strength continues to liberate her from being a victim of her past. “It is a song about being unapologetic about who we are, and excelling never the less the unforeseen circumstances of life, as we do what we have to, we are our thoughts, and actions speak louder,” she said.

Daniell Swagger further noted that the song raises awareness for women, who have been a victim of molestation/rape, violence and abuse. “I’m dazed’ means being stuck in a trance of knowing and not understanding, or a form of confusion,” she said. The ‘I’m dazed’ music video is directed by Christophe Durand and shot by Colours Island production in Reunion Island; at a land mark called ‘The Plain Of Sands,’ a volcanic desert, 2350m above sea level, covered with melted lava giving away Lunar or Martian mineral landscape vibes.

The atmosphere of the scenes in the music video include imagery of mystic and cold thoughts, a cryptomeria forest and an underground setting where it gets personal. She said through this video she was trying to give hope to those who are despairing in life because of violence and abuse. “When one is trying to heal, they are only at war with themselves, because once a victim of trauma people have to re-invent themselves and accept that these terrible events are a part of life.”

“I hope to motivate other women who find themselves under these circumstances. It is a voice to help victims to take a stand for themselves, to know that we do believe them and wish to denounce this sort of behaviour which is common amongst familial households.” Her music is available on all digital platforms for streaming. She noted that her vision is to represent the industry internationally. The message in this video is to say No! to abuse, rape, molestation and defilement for both men and women, and also children.
