Chikorokoro, a hit song!

Zolasko’s newly released Chikorokoro takes him to Harare

- BY IRENE SHONE

Zolasko’s newly released song, ‘Chikorokoro’ encourages people to never to give up in life and remain hopeful regardless of what life throws their way. Chikorokoro literally means an over used car, that’s almost a scrap. Zolasko analyses life to say that some people end up being discouraged, because they can happen to meet goats in sheepskin, only meant to cripple their lives indirectly. “In this era, one would send a ‘trusted’ car dealer to get them a new car, but only for the car dealer to deliver a chikorokoro,” he said.

Zolasko further told Vibe that this has really concerned him for a long time, hence he had to write this song. “As human beings, we should learn that, not everyone in life wishes to see us doing good, all the time, which is why it is important to keep on working hard and never be discouraged.”

Zolasko has written and produced the song by himself, and tells Vibe that he is satisfied regarding the feedback he gets. The song is doing very well.It has not yet played on any local radio station, but the feedback I get from the streets and on social media is overwhelming, he noted.

“Thanks to Mokaragana, I have also performed it there for the first time last fortnight and the feedback was equally exceptional as people really like it.”

He also noted the song is also doing well in Zimbabwe, where he was even invited to perform at Harare Gardens on September 3rd.

He takes pride in this and says it’s every musician’s dream to be recognised beyond the borders of their country. Zolasko said he would soon start shooting the video to the song.
