STYLEZO DROPS MMALEBOPO AFRO POP SONG

- BY IRENE SHONE

Jackson Keikantsemang affectionately known as Stylezo, recently released a new single titled ‘Mmalebopo,’ which is an Afro pop killer jam.

Stylezo is unfazed and certain that, he is going places with Afro pop music genre. He told Vibe that ‘Mmalebopo’ has given him all the confidence he ever needed to breakthrough within the music industry. The Maun born artiste shares that he has joined the music industry in year 2014 as a dancer, but suddenly decided to go solo, to express himself in song.

“I was part of a dance group called Velast. We worked together peacefully but I wasn’t so into dancing. I wanted to sing, because I wanted to be heard,” Stylezo said. In 2016, he decided to leave his comfort zone and created his own brand. “I found myself in love with Afro pop beats, as I consequently released singles after singles since then. What actually made me love music the most, is the fact that I grew up seeing my father making instruments that create music like segaba nd setinkane, so I learnt a lot about music since childhood,” he said. The song ‘Mmalebopo’ was released early this year, and Stylezo reiteraited that so far it is his only music item that has taken him grow within the industry. “This song took me places; people enjoy it and because of this song they want more of my music and obviously expect similar good music from me, “he said. He noted that he is now working on an album dubbed ‘Mmalebopo’. He has already been to Mokaragana, the local music tv show and he was a marvel to watch, especially with his electrifying dance moves. He further told Vibe that his plan for this year’s independence celebrations, is to work harder to close his debut album. “I will be home working on my album and I have got shows to attend too, “he added. Stylezo lamented that Batswana don’t really support talent but love trends. “This is why many musicians don’t make it or end up quitting. It is high time we support local talent and embrace it, so that it may be known internationally than supporting only established music brands,” he said. Stylezo expressed gratitude to Skavenja who spotted his talent from afar and motivated him to carry on with music. “I wouldn’t be here if it was not for him because I was falling apart. My dreams were fading but he said to me, “hang on son, give ur best and dont give up!” and here I am now, with my music doing great.”
