OF WATER UTILITIES CORP AND PRE-PAID METERS

-

Well it looks like the happy times are over for those who have been used to using water without paying for it. Some have actually been paying but not really the amount commensurate with the water they consumed. We hear magatwe a gore some homesteads made it difficult for the WUC chaps to get in and take meter readings – gatwe either their steel gates were always locked, or they kept pitbulls that ensured the water boys and girls played far away from their compounds. In the end the corporation was forced to do estimates which most of the time were lower than the real consumption – just that the few who were charged more on estimation wrote about it on social media and exaggerated the whole thing to seem like WUC was generally behaving rogue!

The many who were undercharged simply kept quiet; watered their gardens, ferried water to their farms; filled up and emptied their swimming pools and filled up their bathtubs only to pay estimations of P70-00 per month, which they gladly paid. Now the tables are turning and WUC say they are bringing in prepaid meters and we hear that they are not a nice thing to have.

Picture yourself bathing in the morning as you prepare to go to work and then suddenly pau! No water; and you have to pay through MyZaka of OrangeMoney of Smega or PosoMoney for the smart meter to reconnect you. If we do not want that experience perhaps we might just to start paying up so that we do not push WUC to this inconvenience of a strategy
