Kabelo ‘Small’ Bagwasi to defend his WBF World Super Feather title against south American, Marcio Arlesnin Soza Monge in Gaborone, under the hosting of Scud missile Promotions.
Following the success of the first ever world title boxing fight card in Botswana, local promoters, Scud Missile Promotions will once again host another international showpiece in Gaborone on the 9th of December 2022.
The December world title fight will see reigning World Boxing Federation lightweight champion, Kabelo ‘Small’ Bagwasi making his first title defense against a tough South American opponent.
“Scud Missile Promotions will once again host a World Boxing title between Marcio Arlesnin Soza Monge from Nicaragua, South America against Steven Bagwasi Jr from Botswana, live at The Grand Palm GICC in Gaborone,” said one of the organisers, Prince Majaye in an interview this week. Majaye continued: “This will be a 12 round WBF World Super Featherweight fight alongside appearances and supporting bouts from local pugilists, including the likes of Boifang Kenaope. Before competing in December, the up-and-coming featherweight (Kenaope) will be expected to compete in a World Boxing Council tournament in Zimbabwe on the 1st October 2022. Speaking more on Bagwasi’s next opponent, Majaye said: “Marcio Arlesnin
Soza Monge also known as El Toro is a 31-year-old orthodox stance professional boxer from Nicaragua with a fascinating record of 31 professional fights with 22 wins, 7 loses and 2 draws.” Majaye said the Latin American boxer is qualified to fight against the current World champion, Steven Small Bagwasi Jr who won his title in August 26th 2022 against the Tanzania pro boxer, Said Chino live at UB Indoor sports arena on Botswana Television. Bagwasi made a huge statement against Chino after dominating the whole 12 rounds enroute to his first world title win.
Meanwhile, Majaye said Scud Missile promotion boxing tournaments are known for being the highest paying professional boxing fight promoters in Botswana. Having given a number of local amateur boxers an opportunity to join the professional ranks in their last fight card, Majaye said they are paying fighters decent purses despite the fact that many of these athletes are just starting in the profession of boxing. “By empowering these young individuals, we help them to achieve the ultimate goal of making this their full-time profession as much as taking Botswana sports further on an international platform. A launch will be organized with full details for the upcoming tournaments, alongside sponsors and media houses.”
