Rebatenne to defend title
The veteran table tennis star will once again seek to defend the Phoenix Assurance Group title over the Independence holidays.
Botswana’s number 1 ranked Table Tennis female star, Tshepiso Rebatenne has made her intentions clear to defend the Phoenix Assurance Group Independence title she won last year.
Having been a dominant force in the game for the past decade, last year, the veteran was at the peak of her powers to clinch the tournament’s top prize, walking away with at least P25 000 00 after dethroning the then defending champion, Boitshwarelo Butale 4-0 in the final. Heading into this years’ finals which begins on Friday at Botho University multi-purpose hall, Rebatenne told Sun Sport that she is going out to defend her title. “I am more than ready. Being at the top is a challenge, everybody targets you, and people want to make a name for themselves by eliminating you. That on its own is also a motivation for me to continue to work hard and defend my title, I also want to maintain my status as the top ranked BTTA athlete, I’ve been at the top since 2014 and my intention is to make it to ten years at the top, hopefully I’ll make it,” Rebatenne shared.
