How reflexology boosts health in body, mind (Part 2)

-

Founder of Uzuri Health Spa,Tapiwa Dodo continues chat with Sunhealth about how reflexology boosts health in body and mind. She combines a deeply rejuvenating and restorative holistic experience with a thorough and insightful analysis of reflex points.

IS REFLEXOLOGY MEDICALLY/ SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN?

Reflexology is linked to a number of benefits as we have discussed, but only some of them

have been scientifically evaluated and proven. It is therefore important to note reflexology may not diagnose and treat medical conditions and as I had said earlier it works well as a complimentary therapy.

CAN YOU EXPLAIN HOW THE REFLEX POINTS ENABLE YOU TO IDENTIFY AILMENTS?

As a reflexologist I cannot diagnose a client with a condition as I am not a doctor, but by using my mapping guide on the feet and applying pressure on the feet I will be able to pick up or feel that something is going on but would not be able to tell you what is specifically happening in the area. I tend to make my reflexology sessions a bit more interactive and as such I am able to explain to my clients what I pick up from their feet and what could be the causes. There are some factors that must be taken into consideration that may influence our findings during reflexology, such as environmental factors, which may explain why someone would have bunions. Major challenges that Batswana are faced with are blindness and ages or problems with the presence of crystals or crunchiness, puffiness or redness in certain points or areas and when a client expresses pain. A lot of the times this will let me know that there is a problem, but I will not be able to tell you what that problem is exactly.

WHAT IS THE SINGLE MOST OBVIOUS THING WHEN LOOKING AT A FOOT FOR THE FIRST TIME THAT ANYONE WITH A TRAINED EYE COULD SPOT?

Interestingly the toes tell of a person’s personality. Closed toes indicate a private or introverted personality, with the opposite of open toes with gabs between them reflecting an open extroverted type of a personality. The smell and feel of the feet also indicate different things about the client’s general health.

WHY IS IT CENTERED ON THE FOOT?

Reflexology isn’t just centered on the feet. It can be done on the hands and ears. But I personally enjoy working on the feet

WELLNESS IS PERCEIVED BY AS A LUXURY. WHO REALLY NEEDS TO VISIT A WELLNESS CLINIC AND WHY? WHO SHOULD GET REFLEXOLOGY?

Everyone. Anyone who would want to improve their health and vitality should be getting reflexology. It is completely drug free, making it safe for even baby’s right through to the elderly. Reflexology improves blood circulation, and this is important for everyone.

HOW LONG SHOULD THE EFFECTS LAST? HOW OFTEN DO YOU ADVISE GETTING TREATMENT?

An energy shift is expected (a flow of energy or energy release) within a week of your treatment. The shift may or may not be experienced in the case of single session. However, regular reflexology sessions, which is more advisable, increases the effects of the therapy. As a client becomes more aware of their own energy flow through their body they may decide to continue on with monthly sessions or as and when they
