MARA SIGNS WITH MATEBELE FC
Former national team and league champions, Gaborone United player, Mara Moloi has signed with ambitious Debswana First Division South (DFDS) side, Matebele FC who are seeking promotion to the elite league.
With a wealth of experience, Moloi is expected to help the first division outfit in their quest to make it to top flight football; his goal scoring prowess has been proven over time and that is exactly what Matebele need at the moment.
Moloi was announced last week after his contract ended with Gaborone United, the pouncing striker had to find greener pastures and ended up at Matebele where he will look to continue his football career.
During the 2019/ 2020 season while at Gaborone United, Kekaetswe ‘Mara’ Moloi created an unprecedented scoring record in the calendar year of 2019, becoming the only player to have scored multiple hat tricks in that period. Moloi netted his first hat trick of 2019 on January 19 against Gaborone United while playing for Police XI. He netted another hat trick on April 23 (2019) against Sankoyo Bush Bucks. During the 2019/2020 season, after he had transferred to GU, he then scored a hat trick on the opening day of the current season on August 31 (2019) against Gilport Lions. With three hat tricks under his belt, Moloi has two more hat tricks than any other player in a calendar year. Matebele will not only benefit from his goal scoring powers but also his leadership and experience are going to come in handy for the club that is solely focused on promotion.
Mara had won several league titles while at Mochudi Center Chiefs and has recently won two Orange FA Cups with Gaborone United and a league title before leaving the club for his new home.
Moloi has also played in the South African elite PSL League where he scored a couple of goals for Polokwane City; although his spell was short lived, the player left a mark with the few goals that he has scored in the league.
