GABANE FAMILY FUN VILLA HOSTS INDEPENDENCE JAMBOREE

- BY KELETSO THOBEGA

The Gabane Family Fun Villa was the place to be this past Independence Day as scores of fun lovers flocked the amusement park to celebrate Botswana’s 56 years, and enjoy birthday parties, braais and chill sessions.

The park opened its doors from morning until late evening and the revellers including both children and adults enjoyed good food, games and music in a chilled vibe with family and friends.

One reveller, Gase Kitlano, said that she wanted to let her hair down with her husband and children. “I like that there are a lot of activities for the little ones. It is also a relaxed park, and one gets to meet nice people,” she said.

Another reveller, Thuso Omphemetse, said that the park is among the best that one can find in Gaborone and surrounding areas. “The park is affordable and a fun place for the whole family. At least nowadays more people are realising that having fun is not just going out at night and boozing, leaving the children behind; there is entertainment that can be enjoyed by both adults and children, in a safe environment such as in this park,” he said. Located along the Kanye road, on the periphery of Gabane village, the amusement and theme park is one of a kind and quite different from the usual parks we know. The park offers a great outing - whether you enjoy swings and bringing out your inner child, swimming or just hanging out with friends enjoying a picnic or ‘bev’ on camp chairs listening to music and dancing. There is also food and drinks sold inside the park. The venue also hosts private functions on request such as birthday parties, intimate weddings, bridal and baby showers and graduation parties, the management noted.

The entrance fee to the amusement theme park covers swimming, pool slides, climbs on some of the swings including flying jets, go rounds, stunt jumps and human free falls. For an extra 20 bucks, one can enjoy quad bike rides, roller coaster, zipline bumper rides and trampoline jumps.
